Dear ‘ole dad, what would we do without him? This Father’s Day is anything but typical, but that doesn’t mean you can’t show the special guy in your life some love. Even if it’s a last minute free Father’s Day gift, you can give a significant present without breaking the bank.
Car Wash
Cleaning up and cleaning out dad’s sweet ride makes a great gift. If you don’t have any cash to spend, you can do the work yourself. Don’t forget to polish every nook and cranny and sweep it out well, too. If you’ve never done the job yourself before, I love these tips from Reader’s Digest. I had no idea cooking spray could help you remove bugs from the grill and brake dust from hubcaps!
If you do have a budget to spend, this is a great time of the year to pick up a deal on car washes. Locally, you can pick up Crew Carwash under face value at places like Costco and Sam’s Club. Or you can purchase booklets of 6 washes for the price of 4 right now. It’s also a great idea to check Groupon for car wash and detailing offers.
Play a Game
Does your dad have a favorite sport or game? Today is the perfect day to play. Whether it’s a Mario Kart tournament or a game of pick up ball in the driveway, spend some quality time doing something he loves. Many of dad’s favorite games only cost you time.
If you’re able, you could purchase something that supports his favorite way to play. Check with local golf courses for Father’s Day specials. Or, order a board game from Amazon – all of these are under $25.
Subscription
Does your dad already have everything he needs and more? You may want to consider a digital subscription this year.
For the music lover, SiriusXM is offering a $5/month for 12 months deal right now. Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, Peacock, or CBS All Access might be a great fit and all vary in costs starting at as little as $4.99. You may consider a workout subscription or a magazine subscription depending on dad’s passion.
Free Printable Coupon Booklets
Print out a special coupon booklet for your dad. Featuring special perks just for him, you can print yours at home and then assemble it for a quick and easy gift. Pinterest has lots of great options.
Clean Something Up
The garage, the barn, the backyard, a closet, a cabinet – there’s a mess somewhere that needs cleaned up. Spend some time scrubbing down and organizing a space. Ask dad first which place he’d like straightened and any preferences. Then let the fun begin!
Build Something
If your dad likes being handy, you might consider a few tools this year and building things together. Here are a few fantastic Amazon finds:
- Magnetic Tool Cuff for less than $6
- Digital Tape Measure for less than $30
- Energizer LED Tactical Flashlight for less than $14
- BLACK+DECKER 20V MAX Cordless Drill for less than $50
I also love these Kids’ Workshop kits from Home Depot. Most are less than $10.
Score Great Restaurant Deals
Don’t forget to feed dad on his special day. Of course, go with all of his favorites. But don’t forget to look for special pricing, family meal deals, coupons, and gift card deals.
Restaurants with $10 Bonus Gift Cards when you purchase $50 in Gift Cards:
- Benihana
- Bonefish Grill – $20 Bonus Gift Card

Red Robin and Subway are offering a $5 bonus for $25 in gift cards. Applebees is offering 10% off online gift card orders. Don’t forget if you use a service like Grubhub, you can get cash back through a portal like Rakuten.
Make a card. Write a letter. Let him nap. Call him on the phone. Tell your dad how much you care this year, and every day.
