Welcome WTHR Weekend Sunrise Viewers: 5 Can’t Miss Christmas Sale Items!
Tips like these helped us pay off $127K in debt. You can read our story in Slaying the Debt Dragon: How One Family Conquered Their Money Monster and Found an Inspired Happily Ever After.Chances are you know that this is the best time of the year to look for Christmas decor, wrapping paper, bows, ribbons, Christmas trees, & even cards. But I have a feeling there might be a few items that you fail to miss in the Christmas clearance if you aren’t careful. Here’s what my eyes are scanning for when I’m hitting the 70-90% Off shelves this week.
1) FOOD. I know it seems odd but there are all types of foods that are clearanced out in the weeks after Christmas. From cutesy holiday themed mac-n-cheese to cookie & cake mixes, you’re sure to find items that will eat just fine no matter their form and fashion. The bonus is that if you can find items that are primarily red in nature, they’ll work well for Valentine’s day, too. Top picks: Candy, Baking Mixes/Frosting, Cake Decorating Supplies, Booze, Hot Cocoa Mixes, Coffee, Chips & Snacks with a Holiday Theme
2) CONSUMABLE HOUSEHOLD GOODS. From storage containers to paper towels to even toothpaste and toothbrushes, there are plenty of items that seem so cute in early November but retailers will want to rapidly ditch before February. The best news about these items is that many of them probably have coupons that will pair nicely with a clearance sale. Top picks: Kleenex, Paper Towels/Napkins/Plates/Cups, Toothbrushes/Toothpaste, Ziploc bags and storage containers, Cupcake liners,
3) CLOTHES. From here through the end of the season, sweaters, snow gear, boots, hats, and more will be on sale. Keep a special eye to holiday attire too though. From cute Christmas themed jammies and Ts to red & green socks & sweats, you’re sure to find a deal that you can put back for next December. Again, double bonus if you can find an item in red that will work well for Valentine’s day, too. Top picks: Coats for kids {buy 1 size too big for next year}, Baby’s 1st Christmas items {make great gifts for friends who are expecting}, Socks {you can never have enough!} & holiday undies {no one else is going to see them anyway!}.
4) GIFT SETS. You know that lovely little set of lotion and bubble bath that you received from your great aunt? Chances are it’s 50-75% less than what she paid for it right now. A lot of these sets aren’t just floral overly fragrant bath salts either, they also include practical items like razors, deodorant, and shower gel. Don’t glance over these items just because you don’t need to purchase a gift right now. Top Picks: Bath/Body Items, Cooking Kits, Hygiene Sets, Bundled Candy, Crafts.
5) TOYS. Don’t let the items that Santa forgot go to waste. It’s a FABULOUS time of the year to stock up on items for birthdays & “just because” for kids. From crafty kits to sports equipment, dolls, trucks, and more, the elves left a few items on the shelves which are being rapidly reduced in price. Top Picks: Department store brand items that are special for the holidays, games, puzzles, and craft kits {often in a separate area from the toy department}.
What’s your best holiday clearance deal? What do you hope to score for a rock bottom price this week?
