Look at those kids. Can you believe they let us get married when we were mere children?
Ok so we were 22 and 23 but whoowhee, we’ve had some mileage over the years. |
Ever been to a wedding? Know that feeling when the bride walks down the aisle, adorned in dazzling white for just a second, you’re transported back in time? You listen to the vows and you hear your own voice repeating them to your spouse. You feel the jitters of nervousness and you sense a whole world of new beginnings for both the newly married couple but you rekindle what it once felt like to have those feelings about your life and for your spouse.
Ever see a picture of a new born baby? And you immediately walk years into the past and feel the soft skin and see the tiny fingers of your own children. You know that there’s a whole new world of experiences awaiting this tiny child. And you longingly linger in the memory of the sweet smell of what once was.
Ever go to a graduation ceremony? You endure dry and boring speeches for that one beautiful pay off moment of seeing caps heaved high into the air as a whole new adventure begins for a group of scholars. You remember other dry and boring speeches also endured for that moment of release. You recall your own adventures beginning.
Yesterday, two people from totally different paths e-mailed to say that they too were debt free. They had long followed our story and wanted to update me on theirs. It reminded me of the feelings of this day and even this moment.
Of the heaving tears of relief. Of the disbelief of the completion of a goal that seemed so much bigger than we could have ever achieved on our own. Of the simple gratitude of freedom.
I need to know when you’re debt free.
Please tell me your story.
