Yoohoo, this is a review post. The gracious Lady Malia of One2One Network was royally swell enough to provide me with a couple of tickets to see Mr. Mat Kearney in concert. I donned my favorite pair of shoes, grabbed a dear friend, and headed to B-town for the show. A couple of weeks ago, my good friend, the Lady Angie, and I were blessed to catch Mat Kearney in concert at the Bluebird in Bloomington. The concert was in a word, fabulous. This is the second time I’ve seen Kearney in concert and I’m pretty addicted to his newest album – Young Love.
Kearney is just so darn likeable in concert. It seriously feels like you’re sitting in his living room having a little chat. And whether you’ve listened to his music over and over again or are experiencing it for the first time, a live experience like that will certainly make you a fan for life {and you’ll find yourself singing along in both instances, too}.
The evening was filled with so many fun memories . . . like the fact that Mat Kearney came into the audience and stood next to me while singing for a bit. And when he turned to leave, Lady Angie was standing behind me and they did a bit of a “dance” as he tried to escape her claws move on to another part of the audience. I also hearted one of the guitarists who I’m pretty sure could have doubled for a Civil War Colonel. AND the encore Foster the People cover . . . pure joy.

But probably what entertained us just as much as Kearney was the couple sitting in the front row. Maybe you’ve seen them before? Granted, probably not this specific couple, but these were the people who knew every single lyric to every single song and sang emphatically {approximately one beat ahead of Mat Kearney}. Let’s just say they were highly entertaining and having the time of their lives.
So here’s to you people in the row in front of us. You definitely knew a whole lot more lyrics than I did {and possibly Mat Kearney himself}. And you emphatically hooted at every question he asked {I’m still really puzzled at what city/state/country you’re from since you screamed for almost every one mentioned}. You raised your hands in joy. But I’ve gotta give it to you. You were in the moment and that’s not something I can say for most people.
And it was a great show.
