In one hour, I need to
do a load of dishes,
pack a suitcase (actually 2, 1 for me, 1 for the girls),
take a shower,
get dressed up,
fix a shoe,
fix my favorite headband (which I’m pretty sure I can’t fix boo!),
do my hair,
slap on some make up,
wake up the Youngest Princess,
make sure she potties,
pack said potty (since she’s still phobic about using others),
pack her tricycle since I promised I would (and a helmet, too),
get everything in the car,
and wait for the Eldest Princess.
Who will get off the bus in now less than one hour for the last time as a 3rd grader.
This my Eldest child. Who I long thought would be my only child . . . Who this year got braces and glasses . . . Who I think if we calculated correctly got all solid As (no minuses) for the first time this year during the last 9 weeks . . .
This beautiful girl has completely reorganized how I look life . . . Who is on the cusp of being so grown up and yet still possesses the great imagination that only childhood allows . . . Who loves others immensely . . . Who captures my heart with her constant singing, humming, and chatter . . . Who is worshipped by her younger sister.
It’s been nearly 9 years since I knew what life was like without her. I barely remember.
And now she is officially a 4th grader.
I’m trying hard not to project on her the fact that 4th grade was one of my most trying years of my nearly 35 years. A couple of girls in my class made my life hell on earth. I loved my teacher, I loved Indiana history, but I hated the 4th grade.
My experience is not hers.
Regardless, I need to be ready for her in one hour.
PS – I’m on a clandestine mission this evening and posting will be delayed or done tomorrow. Love you bunches but love my family more. MWAH!
