A big thank you to Lady “K” for sharing her story today. I’m always willing to protect the names of the innocent around these parts so if you’ve been hesitating in sharing your story (because friends or family read this blog) realize that we can create a cool mysterious pseudonym for you.
Hey everybody. So glad you stopped by today. Freedom Friday is when I bi-weekly let you in on how we’re doing with our pursuit of paying off debt. It’s also when many of you have e-mailed me with your story (with either “Freedom in Progress” or “Freedom Achieved” in the subject line) so I can share your story to encourage others, too.
We were in too much debt, only a few years ago. My husband used to feel a sense of pride through how many credit cards he had. Big mistake! Plus, he was a fan of “Buy Now, Pay Later” – but boy, do you pay!
So, through God’s grace, we buckled down, paid off everything, including our house, my husband agreed to destroy all buy one of his credit cards, I chose not to renew all the magazines that we didn’t take time to read anyway, and we’ve been able to breathe so much easier. It’s amazing what you can do without and not even miss it. Each debt we could mark off was truly a victory. What I’ve tried to express to him is, if it’s something you really want, save up for it. By paying things off, we’ve sometimes been able to prepay our utilities, sometimes up to a year ahead, which is a big relief when those heating or cooling bills rolls in.
I’m quite proud and, again, give God the glory for it.
Again, thank you for all your hard work and dedication to share the sites for freebies, discounts & other savings. I hope you & your family have a relaxed, fun weekend. YES! Spring is here!!
Thank you Lady “K” for sharing your story with us. It is amazing how much better you can breathe when debt doesn’t have you pinned to the ground. Life is so much more enjoyable when you’re not worrying about mounds of debt, late charges, and living on borrowed money. We’re proud of you here in the Queendom, and give God the glory too!
Do you have a debt slaying tale to tell? Are you just beginning your journey or have you already traveled a long and winding road? PLEASE share it with us! E-mail me today! Together we can encourage each other to slay debt dragons left and right. And we’re better together.
