Five days until Election Day and for me it can’t come a day too soon.  I am up to my eyeballs sick of the commercials, media coverage, and rhetoric.  I’m tired of people spouting off at the mouth with such vehement language in the public forum about “this man” or “that man” and the e-mail forwards ARGH!  The Queen is not a fan of e-mail forwards, unless they are ridiculously pee your pants funny or of course tell you how to get free stuff.  SO all of the political crap that has been floating around has worn me out.  I read the subject line and usually delete it.  Seriously, can’t we all just get along?  I’m cool with you making your choices, I’m good with researching the issues and making my own choices, I see no need to debate it with you.  I’m not going to change your mind, you’re certainly not going to change mine.

All of that said, I am a big fan of enfranchisement and take my responsibility, right, and privilege of voting VERY seriously.  A whole lot of women fought very hard to make sure I would have a voice and I am SO thankful for them (check out the movie Iron Jawed Angels if you don’t believe me – it will make you want to name your daughter Alice Paul).  A whole lot of men and women died to establish our nation and  keep it free and safe.  And I am SO thankful for them.  Our family has been very active in local politics.  We believe in knowing who the people are that plan for and govern our community.  We’ve knocked on doors, labeled and stamped mailers, gone to public forums (and when I say we I mean the entire family, both princesses included in one form or another), and campaigned for those we know and support.
Wow, I’m pretty windy today – guess I needed to vent.  ANYWAY!  Krispy Kreme wants to reward you, maybe bribe you, or perhaps encourage you? for voting.  Wear your I Voted Sticker into Krispy Kreme next week on Election Day and get a free donut for doing your civic duty!  Even if you’re not a fan of donuts, be sure to vote and make your voice heard.
