So apparently my posts lately all about free food on your birthday has caused the ads to trend toward weight loss tips . . . wonder how much the average person gains on or near their birthday if addicted to free food? Thoughts to ponder.
Let’s switch gears to a non-food birthday freebie, one again for the kiddos. Go to Toys ‘R Us’ website to sign up for Geoffrey’s Birthday Club. Everyone’s favorite giraffe mascot offers much to your children on their birthday. This one is a freebie that the eldest princess (and I assume someday the youngest princess will too) looks forward to every year. Your child will receive 1) A party planning guide about a month before her/his birthday. Really this one is for you and usually has a good $5 off coupon in it. 2) A card and a gift from Geoffrey himself. In the past for us, this has been a $3 gift card (no purchase necessary) which we usually use in coordination with other coupons and/or birthday money to score something fun. We have purchased something $3 or under with it, too. I’ve read online that some states receive a $5 gift card! 3) An in store “celebration.” For us in the past it has been an announcement, a paper crown, and a balloon. Now it doesn’t sound like much but to a kid this could be the very best part of the freebie. 4) If you so choose, your child can also get a special birthday phone call from Geoffrey. I’ve found that such things go over huge with the preschool crowd.
My sources say that kids 2-10 are eligible but I went ahead and registered the youngest princess anyway (who will turn 1 in March of next year) just to see if we could slip in under the radar. It did say that you have to register 6-8 weeks before your child’s birthday. Go here to sign up yourself. Happy Birthday to your kids.
