Shopping
Let’s face it. MOMCon may be your only opportunity to try on clothes without an audience of toddlers. I don’t want you to miss these awesome malls and boutiques where you can get your adult on and feel like a fancy lady. Bonus: some of these destinations also allow you to make a difference in the world with your purchases.
Circle Centre (49 W. Maryland St. Indianapolis, IN 46204): The nearest mall is downtown Indianapolis’ Circle Centre. GAP, H&M, francesca’s, a large food court, and several anchor restaurants – some chains and some local. There’s also a fabulous movie theater with deluxe seating on the third floor. A complete list of stores can be found here.
Fashion Mall (8702 Keystone Crossing Indianapolis, IN 46240): Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, Nordstrom, the Apple Store, Athleta, free people, lucy, Crate & Barrel, lululemon, Saks Fifth Avenue, and LUSH – the Fashion Mall is high end shopping and what I like to call the Fancy Lady mall. There’s plenty of fabulous dining in this area, too. All of the stores can be found here.
Midland Arts & Antiques Market (907 E. Michigan St. Indianapolis, IN 46202): You’re a one of a kind creation. Why not find a little memento to take home that matches your unique personality. A warehouse filled from ceiling to floor with all sorts of antiques and artwork in every price range. This Indianapolis treasure specializes in the unusual and one of kind finds.
Jen Daisy (1273 N. Emerson Ave. Greenwood, IN 46143): I’m including this one because it’s my backyard and my favorite place to sneak away for a few minutes now and then. The Lemondime jewelry is my fav. You can also shop online if you don’t have time to get there.
byTavi (436 E. Jefferson St. Franklin, IN 46131): Listen, I know you’re probably not going to venture this far south but this boutique is the bomb, friends. Encouraging you to “Make More Than a Fashion Statement,” byTavi features handmade bags and clothes crafted by women rescued and freed from the sex trade. Plus their lines are amazing. Several regional boutiques feature their products and you can shop online.
Altar’d State (Carmel & Keystone): I know this is technically a chain store, but I love their stuff and if you can wander in during a sale, you can really score big. Fashion meets faith. Love it.
Carmel Clay Terrace (14390 Clay Terrace Blvd, Carmel, IN 46032): On your way out of town, head north to one of the Indianapolis area’s most luxurious outdoor shopping destinations. Restaurants, shops you can’t find just anywhere, and more.
Metropolis (2499 Futura Pkwy Plainfield, IN 46168): Sure it’s Superman’s hometown but it’s also a fabulous outdoor mall on the west side of Indy. Stretch your legs, pick up a few things you need, browse over a few things you want, and maybe even see a chick flick with your MOPS friends.
Mass Ave. (downtown Massachusetts Ave. Area): Indy’s arts district boasts shops, galleries, restaurants, theaters, and more. It’s walkable and adorable. Plus you can use Indiana Pacers Bike Share or Wheel Fun Rental to get from place to place and count it as cardio for the day.
