Burgers
Who doesn’t love to kick back with an American classic? Indy has some fabulous places to grab a burger if you’re a carnivore. With speciality side dishes and unique flavors, you can hit these local favs to for a modern spin on an oldie, but goodie. Get your grub on MOMCon 2015, friends.
Bru Burger (410 Massachusetts Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46204): This probably tops my list of favorite burger joints in Indy. It has a slightly grown-up vibe and the menu reflects those flavors. Located in Mass Ave. – Indianapolis’ arts district – Bru Burger is close to a Starbucks, the Flying Cupcake, and Sub Zero (What? You haven’t read about the Bakeries & Delightful Desserts) so you can walk off your dinner and grab dessert. Prices range from $11-30 so it’s definitely not fast food but sometimes that can be a good thing.
Burgerhaus (335 West 9th St. Suite D, Indianapolis, IN 46202): This newly opened restaurant is a quick walk from the JW and located on the beautiful Central Canal. You can even sit outside to enjoy their burgers (which by the way are amazing). There are vegetarian offerings and definitely more than just burgers. One of the coolest parts of Burgerhaus is their 1 to 1 menu. For every entree ordered, this restaurant partners with Kids Alive International to feed a hungry child living in third world poverty a balanced meal.
Punch Burger (137 E Ohio St. Indianapolis, IN 46204): Located steps away from the iconic Soldiers and Sailors Monument, you’ll find Punch Burger – a quick serve custom burger joint specializing in Indiana Beef. You definitely need to try the Burnt Cheese Burger (the cheese is burned, not the burger) and the sweet potato fries. Find the whole menu here.
Scotty’s Brewhouse (1 Virginia Ave. Indianapolis, IN 46204): Scotty’s is an Indiana original and not exclusively a place for burgers. The menu is fairly expansive and includes a number of gluten free items. They’re known for the fried pickles and the Shewman Special – a burger that features peanut butter and jalapeños. What?!
High Velocity (JW Marriott Indianapolis, 10 S West St. Indianapolis, IN 46204): If you don’t feel like leaving the hotel, you can grab a bite at High Velocity in the JW Marriott’s first floor. You can glimpse views of Victory Field where the Indianapolis Indians play and even see Lucas Oil Stadium (Go Colts!).
