Breakfast, Brunch, Coffee, & Lunch
Want a leisurely breakfast, a quick bite for lunch or a snack on the go while you’re at MOMCon 2015? These suggestions vary in price and flavor but each will give you a unique Indy dining experience.
Cafe Patachou (225 W Washington St. Indianapolis, IN 46204): A self-described adult student union, Cafe Patachou is high on taste and providing options for gluten free, vegan, and healthy eaters. Check out the online menu before you go. It’s definitely a one of my luxury stops (so budget a few extra dollars), but one of my favorite places in downtown Indy.
Yolk (220 E. South St. Indianapolis, IN 46204): Straight up: I haven’t been to Yolk yet. However, I have drooled over my keyboard reading the menu. It’s a quaint newly constructed area near Banker’s Life Fieldhouse (where the Indiana Pacers play).
Milktooth (534 Virginia Ave. Indianapolis, IN 46203(: Again, I haven’t made it to Milktooth yet, but my foodie friends all rave about its environment and culinary offerings. It’s a little more expensive but the espresso offerings (hello Crunchberry Cappuccino) and fancy pants, locally sourced, grown up foods = an adult meal worth savoring.
Pearings Cafe (6 W Washington St. Indianapolis, IN 46204): Crepes, waffles, lunch, tea, coffee, yogurt, soup, salads, and more – Pearings Cafe dishes up quick serve foods that are anything but fast food. It’s a cute little cafe to huddle together, grab a bite, and process your day.
Calvin Fletcher’s Coffee Company (647 Virginia Ave. Indianapolis, IN 46203): Located a mile and a half from the J.W., this coffee shop won’t be swamped like the chains. Focused on serving the community, Calvin Fletcher serves locally baked pastries and organic drinks. Plus, they donate all of their profits back into the area. There are a few breakfast and lunch options, plenty of awesome beverages, and amazing sweets.
Wildwood Market (1015 Virginia Ave. Indianapolis, IN 46203): Soups, sandwiches, salads, locally roasted coffee and more feature at this fresh foods dining destination. Open from 10 AM – 8 PM, you’ll be able to find a relish snack or quick meal or even pick up some healthy snacks for later in the evening. It’s about 2 miles away and you’ll probably need to drive but it’s worth it because the Fountain Square area where it’s located is adorable and the market is actually a rehabbed auto repair shop.
Bee Coffee Roasters (201 S Capitol Ave. #110 Indianapolis, IN 46225): Less than a 10 minute walk from the JW, this local coffee roaster has a shop where you can get a fresh cup of joe and buy beans to take home, too. They also feature muffins, pastries, and smoothies.
Eiteljorg Museum Cafe (500 W Washington St. Indianapolis, IN 46204): Immediately across the street from the JW is the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art. It’s a world class museum that also has a delightful cafe tucked at the back. You don’t have to pay museum admission to eat at the cafe and it’s one of my favorite quiet spots (shhh, don’t tell anyone). The menu has salads, hot and cold sandwiches, soups – all with a southwestern flair.
Indiana State Museum Farmers Market Cafe (650 W Washington St, Indianapolis, IN 46204): Yet another museum dining destination, the Indiana State Museum is in very close proximity has a great little cafe with both indoor and outdoor seating near the Canal. You’ll find gluten free options, soups, salads, sandwiches, and some Indiana favorites on the menu.
Stardust Terrace Cafe (450 W Ohio St. Indianapolis, IN 46202): One of my favorite in all of Indianapolis is the Indiana History Center. I’m nerdy like that. Again, it has a cafe that doesn’t require you to purchase admission to the facility (although it’s pretty awesome and worth it if you are a history nerd, too). You can check out the menu. The cafe features free WiFi and outdoor seating along the beautiful Indianapolis Central Canal.
