Everyday essential purchases like razors can often define our finances. With a host of options, it can be difficult to know which brand or platform gives you the best price and value. Today, I’m helping you cut through the confusion and clutter. From razor subscriptions to Amazon to drug stores and beyond, keep reading for the all of the details.
Dollar Shave Club
Dollar Shave Club offers a $5 introductory price. This price includes free shipping and the following:
- Executive Razor Cartridges (2 pk)
- Prep Scrub Trial (1 oz)
- Shave Butter Trial Size (1 oz)
- Post Shave Dew Trial Size (1 oz)
- Executive Handle (1 ct)
After this, you select a restock package for $39.60 which ships anywhere from 2, 3, or 4 months later. You can choose to add or remove products at any point. There are also options for showering and brushing teeth kits. The more you order, the bigger the discount you receive.
Harry’s
Harry’s is a similar subscription based program. It comes in at an $8 introductory price which ships for free and includes:
- Weighted rubberized handle
- Five-blade razor cartridge
- Foaming shave gel (2.0oz)
- Travel blade cover
You can choose the color of the handle for Harry’s which means if you have more than one shaver in your household, you’ll be able to keep straight whose belongs to whom. You select an ongoing subscription savings plan that meets your needs. Either $15 for 8 replacement blades, $15 for 8 replacement blades and 1 foaming shave gel, or $21 for 16 replacement blades and 2 foaming shave gels. You can choose 2, 3, or 5 month timing for the shipments.
Billie
A razor subscription marketed toward women, Billie comes in at $9 with free shipping and includes:
- Billie handle (choose between 6 colors)
- Mag(net)ic holder
- Two 5-blade razor cartridges
You also have options to purchase Shave Cream ($8), Dry-Bye Body Lotion ($12), and Creamy Body Wash ($9). You can opt for a replacement subscription of 4 blades every 1, 2, or 3 months for $9. Note: I tried this subscription out and LOVE this razor. It’s the best razor I’ve ever owned. The magnetic handle is fantastic and I like that the razor is encased by charcoal shave soap.
Flamingo
Harry’s sister brand Flamingo is available both in Target and through online purchase. For $16 (free shipping), you receive:
- 1 Flamingo Razor Handle
- 2 German-Engineered Five Blade Cartridges
- Foaming Shave Gel (1oz)
- Body Lotion (3oz)
- Shower Hook
- Reusable Pouch
It does not appear that you have to order additional razors as a part of this package.
Amazon Subscribe & Save
Prior to billie, I ordered razors and blades through Amazon’s Subscribe and Save Program. You’ll see a variety of brands and options. And occasionally there are coupons you can pair with the subscription prices. And you have a great flexibility for what products you order and when. Here are a few of the options I see that are competitive.

In Store Options
Obviously, it’s difficult to track specific prices on razors in drug stores and big box retailers. If you purchase in store, you may be able to score a better overall price, depending on sales, coupons, an d generic brands. Always be sure to check store apps and print coupons on your own. The prices will roll and some weeks you may score an fantastic bargain.
The challenge with regular in store purchases always boils down to extra unnecessary items hoping into your cart. Be sure to stick to a list to make the most of a low price.
Final Thoughts
I have a love hate relationships with subscriptions. Often, we can allow them to auto-charge us when we really don’t use a product or service. If you choose to use a razor subscription service, be sure to track how much you’re really spending. Don’t pay for products you don’t use and monitor any price changes. You’ll have to be an engaged consumer to track it all.
On the flip side, items you know you need coming straight to your door can keep you on track with your budget. You’ll avoid unnecessary impulse purchases made at the store buying these regularly needed items.
