FREE Summer Fun can be yours this year! Believe it or not, there’s plenty to do that requires 0 cash. Whether you’ve got the kids home from school for a couple of months or simply want to score some freebies, read on. This year, make the most of these fantastic opportunities – from FREE food to museum entry to concerts and so much more.
Summer Reading
You know I LOVE our local library and can’t go there often enough. There are also some amazing Summer Reading programs that don’t require a library card. Your kids can earn everything form FREE books to cold, hard cash. Check out this year’s official Queen of Free Summer Reading Program Guide to find TEN different programs to sign up for.
FREE Concerts
Odds are good that your community has plenty of free concerts available to you. In the Indianapolis area, don’t miss Concerts on the Canal. There are free concerts in our local amphitheater and even at the local mall. As a good rule of thumb, hit your city’s website or just ask around. Pack and picnic and enjoy music in the great outdoors this summer!
Summer Movie Camps
Like Summer reading, local theaters are offering some FREE flicks to kids this summer. And others offer discounted movies on select days. Plus, you’ll want to check out your local library and city websites to see if there are outdoor movie offerings. Again, check out this year’s Queen of Free Summer Movie Program Guide for al the details. Regal, AMC, Cinemark, Local Parks, and Libraries all have amazing offerings for your families this summer!
FREE & Discounted Museum Nights
Many museums offer free admission on a regular rotating basis, but during the summer months, these events increase. Here’s what’s available in the Indianapolis area:
- Indiana History Center: FREE admission Thursday Nights coinciding with the Concerts on the Canal mentioned above from 10 AM to 8 PM.
- Newfields: Formerly the IMA is FREE to the general public the first Thursday of every month from 4-9 PM.

Restaurants LOVE having you visit during the summer and snag freebies! While I’ll be keeping an updated Queen of Free Summer FREE Food list during June, July, and August, here are a few upcoming opportunities. As always, it’s a good idea to call ahead and make sure your location is participating before showing up looking for free food.
- Baskin Robbins: On June 9th from 3 to 7 PM at participating BR stores, you can sample Elevenade a new Stranger Things treat.
- Chipotle: Watching the NBA Finals? Every time an announcer says FREE Chipotle will tweet out a code for FREE burritos through June 9.
