Fans of any football game agree on one thing. Great game time snacks make a party even better. However, most of us don’t have the budget to cater a full meal. So if you’re planning to watch the big game tonight, these four easy, affordable ideas will please your fans from large to small!
Chili Dog Pizza
Our friend Mark introduced us to this recipe years ago and it’s a yearly tradition on Super Bowl Sunday. I love how simple and classic Chili Dog Pizza is! Here’s what you’ll need:
Ingredients:
- 1 can Refrigerated Pizza Dough (or make your own to save money)
- 1 jar of your favorite Chili Sauce
- 2-3 Hot Dogs, chopped
- 2 cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese
- Chopped Onions (optional)
Directions:
Open the pizza dough and spread out on a pan according to the package directions. Pre-bake at 425 for 5-7 minutes. Then, top the crust with your sauce. Place the little hot dog pieces evenly over the crust. Top with shredded cheese and chopped onions. Bake for an additional 5-7 minutes or until melted. Serve warm. Don’t forget to cut into small squares so the pizza lasts longer!
Easy Pepperoni Rolls
Frozen bread dough can be used in so many ways. It’s affordable and has a long shelf life so it’s great item to have on hand. For game time, you need little else to whip up amazing Homemade Pepperoni Rolls.
Ingredients:
- 1 to 2 Loaves of Frozen Bread Dough
- 1 Package of Pepperoni
- 3 T Melted Butter
- Garlic Powder
- Parmesan Cheese (optional)
Directions:
Thaw the bread dough according to package directions. Allow the dough to rise. Once it’s doubled in size, shape into balls and place pepperoni in the center. Consult the package for baking directions. My dough called for me to bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes. Mix 1 t of Garlic Powder with the melted butter. Brush on top of the rolls as soon as they come out of the oven. If you’d like sprinkle with a small amount of parmesan cheese. Serve with marinara or a cheese dip.
Giant Hawaiian Bread Sandwich
I’ve blogged this longtime family favorite before. It’s not just a go to for us for game time but also a great meal for holidays and to take to families in need. It’s so simple and delicious and stores well for the next day, too.
Ingredients:
- 1 Large Round Hawaiian Loaf of Bread
- 1/2 lb. of your favorite Ham or other Deli Meat
- 1/2 lb. of your favorite Turkey or other Deli Meat
- 1/4 lb. of your favorite Cheese
- 1/4 lb. of another favorite Cheese
- Lettuce
- Tomato
- Condiments (optional)
Directions:
Remove Hawaiian Bread from pie tie. Slice the bottom half of the bread so it is level with the pan and replace back into the pan. Add a layer of cheese (I used Colby Jack), ham, turkey, and second cheese (I used mozzarella). Then add leaf lettuce and tomatoes if you’d like. Cut the remaining larger piece of bread into two equal slices. Place the middle slice on top of the bottom layer. Repeat the process of layering the sandwich. Then top with the remaining top layer of bread. You can choose to add condiments or let your guests add their own sandwich favorites like mayo, mustard, or other favorites. Slice the giant sandwich like a pie. Then, you can actually place it back into the bag the bread came in and fasten the bread tie on the bag. Refrigerate until it’s game time. I love that you can make this the night before. And it’s good for a day or two down the road, too. The huge sandwich slices are super filling!
Popcorn Bar
Popcorn is always a hit for any sporting event. It’s even better when you allow your guests to customize theirs. Pop a large amount of plain popcorn either on the stovetop (our favorite) or in the microwave. Purchase a number of different seasonings either from Amazon or the grocery store. Set up a popcorn buffet where guests can make their own blend of flavors! You can even print these adorable Football Popcorn boxes or opt for plain brown lunch bags to keep it simple.
No matter when you serve these snacks, you’ll save money and keep your guests happy and full. Plus you won’t have to spend hours upon hours in the kitchen!
