Meijer is one of my favorite places to shop! From mPerks coupons to the pharmacy rewards program, there are great ways to save every single time you shop. Here are 11 great ways to save money at Meijer.
mPerks Coupons
One of the first digital couponing platforms, mPerks has continued to add more features and accessibility over the past four years. If you haven’t set up an account, do it right now. You simply need a mobile phone number (doesn’t have to be a smart phone, even) and an e-mail address (it’s a good idea to use an e-mail designated for freebies and coupons). After you’ve signed up, you can digitally “clip” coupons from the online interface to your account. When you check out at meijer, enter your phone number and pin into the kiosk. The coupons will be automatically deducted from your total even if you don’t remember what you’ve clipped. Recently, Meijer has also added the option of being able to scan items from your smart phone as you place them into your cart. If your specific item does not have a coupon available, the app will pull up similar items that do. Not unlike Target’s Cartwheel and online coupons, mPerks offers coupons on generic items, produce, and meat.
mPerks Personalized Rewards
I’ve met a number of people who utilize Meijer’s mPerks coupons but glance entirely over the rewards program. Each month, you have personalized reward offers based on your shopping habits and coupon use. Right now, I have 11 offers available to me. You might have more or less. After logging into your mPerks account, click on “Rewards” and then “Personalized.”
mPerks Pharmacy Rewards
Meijer’s pharmacy offers a number of ways for you to save. Be sure that again, you log into your mPerks account when checking out at the payment kiosk. For every five prescriptions you fill, you’ll receive a credit toward you chosen reward. 1 credit will get you a $10/$10 coupon (my favorite rewards), 5% off your total bill, or $0.50 off per gallon at Meijer gas stations. 2 credits yields a $20/$20 coupon, 10% off your total bill, or $1.00 off per gallon of at Meijer gas stations. Meijer pharmacies also offer free antibiotics and prenatal vitamins. After logging into your mPerks account, click on “Rewards” and then “Pharmacy.”
mPerks FREE Item Codes
Upon occasion, mPerks will offer a FREE item code. When I spot them, I try to post them on Queen of Free. However, you can also catch them when you follow Meijer’s Facebook and Twitter accounts. In the past, I’ve been able to snag everything from free cookies to free milk.
Competitor’s Coupons
Meijer will honor competitor’s coupons. You can read their entire coupon policy here.
Stacking
You can stack coupons at Meijer. So if you have a Meijer coupon (says “STORE COUPON” in the top bar next to the expiration date and has the Meijer logo on it or an mPerk store coupon) and a Manufacturer Coupon (says “MANUFACTURER COUPON” in that black bar instead), you can use both of them together on one item. For instance, if you found a $1/1 Hunt’s Ketchup coupon in your Sunday paper and clipped it out and also printed a $1/$1 coupon from the mPerks that was a Store coupon, you can use both of those together on 1 bottle of ketchup yielding $2 off your purchase. You do need to pay close attention to your mPerks coupons because not all of them are store coupons, some are manufacturer’s coupons.
Consult the Experts
Meijer Madness is my favorite site to follow and consult before shopping at Meijer. There are plenty of great deal match ups and money saving ideas!
Sign up for Meijer E-mail Alerts
If you’re a regular Meijer shopper, it’s a good idea to sign up for their e-mail alerts. Often, I learn of Meijer’s mPerk offers from their e-mails. As with any freebie/coupon/deal site, it’s a good idea to use an e-mail address specifically designated for that use. That way, you don’t end up with work or family e-mails lumped into the same inbox.
Clearance
Not unlike Target, Meijer can rock a great clearance offering. I’ve found their clothing and craft clearance to be rather fantastic and occasionally (*ahem* last weekend at my Meijer), they’ll offer an additional percentage off of already clearance priced items. You’ll want to check mPerks on clearance, too because occasionally there will be a coupon there, too.
Catalinas & Register Coupons
You may have noticed that occasionally Meijer registers will spit out a number of coupons along with your receipt. These coupons can be triggered by specific purchases – i.e. purchase $20 worth a particular brand and receive a $5 coupon upon check out. Occasionally a competitor’s coupon will print for a product you buy. The best way to maximize these coupons is stacking with other offers. Last week I received a $1 off of any cereal purchase coupon which I’ll be sure to match with another specific cereal manufacturer coupon.
