After years of paying off debt and living on very little, I’ve become a skilled bargain hunter and use systems that help me sort the best bargains from the meager ones. Couple these habits with patience and you can become a shopper extraordinaire. Here are my favorite sites for snagging the very best deals at Christmas.
Amazon
Most people know that Amazon features great deals, especially on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. My top secret insider tip is that you need to use the search filters to find the very best deals. Begin by looking through the Movers & Shakers for the department you’re searching. Deal bloggers will often post the best deals which increases Amazon’s rankings. Looking at Movers & Shakers might give you some insight into the best prices. You can also use the side filters within a category to see what the best discounts are. I typically set my filters within a narrow product to 70% Off or More with a price point of $25 or less. Don’t forget to select Free Amazon Shipping, too. Lastly, follow the Gold Box Deal of the Day. I get daily e-mails to remind me what is on sale.
Belle Chic
Belle Chic is run by another deal site Tanga (which also features some great bargains during this time of the year). This site features personalized and handmade gifts. I’m constantly on the prowl for an additional coupon and/or free shipping. The gifts featured make me feel like I’ve stepped inside of Pinterest.
DaySpring
WOOOWHEE have I scored some great bargains on Dayspring before, especially when it comes to gifts. Speaking of, there are already Black Friday markdowns going on and the Clearance is always fantastic. The boxed cards are also almost always a great deal and I love the FREE eCards, too.
Groupon
It’s the classic and big daddy of deal sites, but every year Groupon cranks out a few that only its huge platform can withstand. Earlier this week, Starbucks featured a deal there and I’m guessing that will happen again. Big name retailers like Old Navy and Amazon have worked with them in the past. You’re best served by signing up for alerts and emails but as with any freebie or coupon site, I suggest using designated texting and e-mail accounts (you can get free ones) to use for those only. This will keep you from getting important e-mails mixed in with deals (which are important but not as important as remembering to pick up your kid from school).
Pick Your Plum
Yet another adorable site filled with adorable decor and gift items, Pick Your Plum has clothes, jewelry, gifts, and craft items all typically under $10. I love that there are a limited number of offers so that I don’t fall into the rabbit hole of surfing the site for hours at a time.

Zulily is great for deals. I’ve gotten some very nice name brands there, in shoes, clothing, home décor, kitchen gadgets and more.

‘bargain buys for busy mums’ is pretty good for me – a facebook group of over 300,000 parents (mainly mums) who all search for and then share the best deals… they call it a kind of community. They have a website as well if you google the name.
