In our journey paying off debt, I often turned to Scripture to fuel my soul. Personal finance is simply put that. Personal. It’s difficult to communicate how deeply our hearts, our pasts, our futures are deeply tied to what we have and what we seek to accumulate. Our relationships intersect with our purchases and our patience. I know from experience, we would have never been able to complete our journey without help beyond our own power.
It would be easy to think of our financial pursuits as simply numbers on a ledger . . . plusses and minuses marching in an orderly (or sometimes not so orderly) fashion. However, so much of who we are is reflected in what we do and how we end up where we are. Certainly tragedy and the paths of others tenor our stories. But if we claim we have no hand in our current state of being, we fool ourselves.
On the flipside, I can convince myself where I am going depends much too much upon my own actions, too.
That I can work my way into success.
That I can earn approval.
That everything depends upon me.
There is a Divine balance at play. Our actions have consequences. Yet, there’s forgiveness and hope and a future when we drop the ball. That forgiveness and hope and a future motivates toward better choices with better consequences.
Ephesians 3:20 states God is able to do immeasurably more than we ask or even imagine, according to His power that is at work within us.
It may seem hopeless. You may feel lost or scared or beyond redemption. You can’t bring yourself to ask or even dream a way out from your current situation. But I am convinced there is always an immeasurable hope that exceeds our expectations. He can do more than we can imagine.
And now . . . a musical interlude to conclude.

Hi Cherie – popping over from Holley Gerth’s Coffee For Your Heart – thank you for your post! Ephesians 3:30 is one of my favorite verse and I am so thankful that the Lord can do exceedingly and abundantly more that we can ask. He is faithful!
Bless you!
