Did you know it’s National Donut Day?! I actually have a complete fascination with this day’s history. It was proclaimed to celebrate the women of the Salvation Army {Lassies} who provided donuts to the soldiers of WWI and random Hoosier fact: the first official donut girl was from Huntington IN. Her name was Helen Purviance. I did the majority of my grad school research on her. I know you’re all thrilled to the core to read it. E-mail me for details. *crickets*
Anywho, today you can snag a free donut a number of places. Here’s my best roundup:
Dunkin’ Donuts: Snag a Donut throughout the day. Also follow @DunkinDonuts on Twitter to win prizes from 10 am to 4 pm. Follow the Queen of Free while you’re at it, too!
Krispy Kreme: Participating locations of Krispy Kreme restaurants are also offering a FREE donut on June 7th, too. For a full list of restaurants, go here.
Tim Horton’s: Tim Horton’s locations are offering a FREE donut with any purchase and this coupon.
Entenmann’s: This company has partnered with the Salvation Army and now through June 15th with be donating $1 to the Salvation Army for every “Like” on Facebook. They also have a Sweepstakes in honor of National Donut Day, too. If you live in Chicago (or are visiting) they also have an event going on that you can read about on their Facebook Page. I worked for the Salvation Army for two summers during college and will always support their work around the world. 🙂 This is an easy way to be generous without spending a dime.
