Catch me tomorrow morning on WTHR Weekend Sunrise at 7:45 AM! Here’s a sneak peek of some of the money saving tips I’ll share.
It’s the time of the year when we celebrate being intentional with our natural resources. Luckily several stores, attractions, & organizations also want to preserve your financial resources, too. There are a whole host of freebies, events, and more to help you conserve your wallet in honor of Earth Day. Here are some of my favorite FREE opportunities for 2013:
FREE Reusable Bag & $40 in Coupons at Target: Today, Sunday April 21st beginning at 10 AM, Target stores nationwide will be handing out 1.5 million FREE Reusable grocery bags. Even better, they contain $40 worth of Target coupons. And if you’re lucky, 250,000 of those given away nationwide might have some great samples in them, too from brands like method Dish Soap, Annie’s Bunny Grahams, Seventh Generation Laundry Detergent and Burt’s Bees Moisturizing Cream. Just a reminder, too. Target gives you a $0.05 discount for every reusable bag you use on your regular shopping trips!
Disney Store FREE Brave or Cars 2 Bag: Monday April 22nd, participating Disney Stores {looks like Castleton Square Mall is our best bet} will give away either a reusable Brave or Cars 2 Bag if you bring in 5 plastic grocery bags. You might want to call ahead to ensure participation & supply.
JCC Indy: Today April 21st from 11:30 AM – 3 PM, you can celebrate the earth and have plenty of FREE family fun. With over 50 activities that are both fun and educational, you can make a t-shirt, go a scavenger hunt, make a bird feeder, & more. Plus, free music, food trucks, vendors, and prizes.
Earth Day Indiana: Indianapolis has one of the largest Earth Day Celebrations in the nation. It features over 130+ exhibits and family fun for everyone. Special entertainers, crafts, music, alternative fuel & energy efficient vehicles, and more. From interactive exhibits on farming, clean water and wildlife preservation, you’re sure to meet everyone’s interests. At White River State Park on Saturday April 27th from 11 AM – 4 PM, this outdoor festival is completely free. Bring your dining out cash envelope to snack at restaurants like Bazbeaux, Da Blue Lagoon and more.
Indianapolis Zoo: On April 27-28th, you can recycle your electronics and get a $2 discount at the Indianapolis Zoo. Clean out your closets and rid yourselves of old tvs, cell phones, computers, microwaves, and more. And can you believe they’ll even give you a discount to drop off those items? For more details and what items qualify, go here.
Free Seeds from Pottery Barn Kids: Snag a FREE packet of seeds while supplies last at Pottery Barn Kids now through Monday April 22nd in store.
National Parks: April 22nd – 26th all National Parks will be waiving their entrance fees. Get into the great outdoors and do it at no cost. Some parks will be hosting special events, too!
Caribou Coffee: Bring in a reusable cup on April 22nd, and you can get a FREE cup of coffee! I have also read that some Starbucks locations may be offering a similar opportunity but as always, call ahead and make sure that your location is participating before you show up demanding free Joe!
