This recipe is a Royal Favorite and something that I’ve been making at the holidays for over a decade. It’s soooo simple and very munchable. Random side note: My French professor (holla Madame Begley) in college taught me this recipe. I’ve seen different versions of it floating around the internet with *ahem* less kind names but we simply call it Cap’n Crunch Mix.
- 1 Large Box of Cap’n Crunch (or a generic version)
- 1 Package of White or Vanilla Bark Coating (found in the baking aisle)
- 1 Can of Cashews (I used halves/pieces to keep it cheap)
Then, gradually add the cereal and cashews in a layering method. I find that if you coat it gradually it works better than dumping the entire box and can in at the same time. So sprinkle some cereal, stir. Sprinkle in some cashews, stir. Rinse, repeat.
Keep repeating the process until all ingredients are combined and are evenly coated with the melted bark.
Finally, spread the mixture out evenly and as flat as possible on wax paper.
Now for the most difficult step. Allow the mixture to dry completely (without sneaking a bite). After it’s dry and non-gooey, break it apart into pieces and store in an air tight container.
It’s just that simple and soooo addictive, Lords and Ladies. We sometimes add the work crack to the end of it.
