Celebrating Freedom with Blogging Ladies of the Court of the Queen of Free! Thanks to @BgKhuna for the Photo |
Obviously, it’s been a bit silent here in the virtual Queendom. That’s because it’s been non-stop GO in the geographical Queendom. From field trips to Mother’s Day to the debt free party, we have seriously been moving at the speed of light around here. Today, I wanted to pause and share a few of my favorite memories of the weekend’s festivities before I forgot and to let those of you who weren’t able to come to glimpse the fun.
WONDERFUL Guests: Close to 150 people turned out to help us celebrate this milestone in our lives. We were humbled and grateful that so many people were able to come. Props to Lady Jen and Sir Peter who won the “we drove the longest” award {there was no prize but still}. They came from Lexington, KY and we got to meet them for the very first time. They’ve followed our story from close to the beginning and it was such a joy to finally see them face to face. I’ve got big love for the local Indy blogging community, especially my Indy Geek Girls. And I was thrilled to see Lady Angie {@AngieSix,} Lady Tamre {@GirlsPintOut}, and Lady Michelle {@GotchaBaby}. And @BgKhuna himself was there, too. It was great to meet longtime readers like Lady Marlene, Lady Michelle, and Lady Karen. It was good to see friends, old and new. Our families were there in full support {could not have done anything without the help of the Queen Mum, mwah!}. And our Life Group and church community showed up in a big way, arriving early to help set up, leaving late after cleaning things up. The best part of the party, by far was the people! A close second was the food you brought. Oh. my. word. I had to give away all of the leftover sweets before I ended up in a diabetic coma. There were a lot of very happy 5th and 6th graders at my church on Sunday AM.
So many more of you sent well wishes since you weren’t able to be there due to distance or schedule conflicts. Thank you SO much. We definitely knew you were with us in spirit!
FABULOUS Music and Art: Many thanks to Dustin Stamper {@dustimus} who rocked it out all afternoon. In particular we LOVED his original compositions “At the Grocery” and “Sallie Mae.” I’m still humming, “Sallie Mae is not my lender . . . heee heee!” AND Rodgers Art and Design {@RodgersArt} did the amazing canvas you see pictured that our guests signed and is now hanging on our living room wall as a forever reminder of where we came from, who helped us get there, and where we’re headed. Check out both of these guys. They ooze talent and coolness. You should probably hire them to do something for you {preferably play music and paint}.
GREAT Give Aways: Many thanks to the organizations that sponsored Give Aways: The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, the Indiana State Museum, 240 Sweet, and Dave Ramsey. Later today, I will be posting an online give away for Financial Peace University for those who weren’t able to attend the party! Congrats to all of our winners of the Give Aways at the party. Everyone’s been contacted and claimed their prizes, hooray!
The King of Free wrote a fantastic post late on Saturday night that captured much of what we felt during the course of the day. Truly it did feel like a scene out of a movie. I can only type thank you so many times. It seems inadequate in words to convey what my heart feels. We thank God for preparing and sustaining our path.
But most of all, we thank Him for every one of you. Those who have read for 1, 2, 3, or even all 4 years. Those who have commented and those who have not. Those who have prayed, encouraged, e-mailed, shared in our story at your congregation or Mom’s group. Those who have begun their own debt slaying journey after reading about ours. Those who are almost free themselves. Those who are on the first steps of the path. And those who were never enslaved like we were. Each of you had a significant role in our journey. And we are grateful, more than you know.
These words, so simple, are not nearly enough.
thank you.
