The following is a Give Away that I chose to do in conjunction with Clothes4Souls and Olive Juice Children’s Clothing. I was offered a piece of clothing from the Olive Juice Gives site and decided to share the love and spread the word further by giving it to one lucky Money Saving Lord or Lady. This post was not edited or reviewed by Clothes4Souls, Olive Juice, or anyone else {as you can tell by my grammar and crazy random thoughts}. I always give you my honest opinions in any Royal Review or Give Away post, that’s a Royal Guarantee!
Students {and their parents} are hitting the mall and strolling the aisles of their Superstores. Most are able to afford the clothing they need to start another a school year. But there’s another story out there. One you don’t hear very often amidst the deal matching and shiny new shoes.
There are 300 million children worldwide who don’t have shoes. 300 million children who don’t have adequate clothing.
Not just for the first day of the school year. Not just in regard to their fall wardrobe. But simply don’t have what they need. {period}.
Over the last two years I have become incredibly passionate about a ridiculously awesome organization – Soles4Souls – that provides shoes for people worldwide. Some of the shoes are brand new but many are gently used shoes donated by people like you, Money Saving Lords and Ladies. Side note, our church’s 5th and 6th grade ministry spearheaded a donation drive and supplied over 400 pairs of shoes for kids in need. Generosity that didn’t cost a dime and met a huge need.
Simple generosity. Freely given.
If you’re an average American, you have too much. {way too much}. Trips to Goodwill and storage units tell the tale.
The average American throws away 68 pounds of clothing a year.
Not donates.
Throws. Away.
Like in the garbage can.
85% of clothing purchased in the US ends up in landfills.
Trash heaps.
Wouldn’t it be awesome if you could be extremely generous with what you already have? Enter Clothes4Souls, a new sister organization of Soles4Souls. {Information on hosting a clothes drive can be found here. You should totally do it.}
So stinkin’ adorable. |
