31 Days

Welcome to another day of learning how to save money, reduce debt, and live well!  We only have a few fleeting days left to travel together and I hope you’ve learned as much as I have.

Day 19: Vacuum Your Refrigerator

Greetings Money Saving Lords and Ladies and thanks for continuing our 31 Day Journey to Reducing Your Debt.  I have loved your feedback, comments, e-mails, and thoughtful words.  I’ve grown and learn from your suggestions and ideas.

Today, we’re talking practical ways to save around your home.  There are plenty of easy, simple ways that you can reduce your household bills and keep costs under control so you can balance your budget.  This tip comes from a direct experience that my friend, Lady Kim had.

You see, their refrigerator had been acting erratically.  It was cooling well and they really thought it was on its last leg.  Lady Kim’s family began researching new refrigerators and prepared to empty their emergency fund to purchase a new one (ay yi yi, what an awful feeling!).  As one last desperate attempt to keep their refrigerator running, they did an odd thing.

They vacuumed. the. refrigerator.

Now, I’m talking about the interior.  No matter how many messes have fallen in there, that wouldn’t have helped.  I’m talking about the vented areas at the base and on the back of the fridge where dust, dirt, and hair collects but rarely gets cleaned.

And . . . . ?!?!

Their fridge ran with great efficiency yet again.

From caulking to cleaning, from refurbishing to handing down clothing, there are plenty of ways to use what you already have, keeping more dollars in your pocket with the opportunity to pay off more debt more quickly.

How are you using what you already have to reduce spending and slay your personal debt dragons?  Leave a comment and let other Money Saving Lords and Ladies know.

This post is written with thanks to Verizon Wireless who is sponsoring me at Blissdom this year.  I’m growing, learning, and developing more to help my blog be the best that I can be plus I am Ruling the Air with speedy Verizon Service and awesome Social Media friendly devices.  Thank you to Verizon and Lady Michelle for the opportunity to experience Verizon Bliss!
