So this post might appeal a bit more to the fellas in the crowd (although I know that I’m super interested in a few of these workouts, too). I recently was on Men’s Health Magazine‘s website. I’ve long loved both it and Women’s Health for their great fitness, health, and nutrition tips and advice. If there was one magazine I’d like as a gift, it would be this one (not hinting but I really do love it). Luckily the King’s Mum has subscribed and so I get her hand-me-down issues. 🙂 And the website really has enough content to keep you busy for days for free.
Anyhoo, I digress. One of the great features of Men’s Health Magazine online is this area where they have Celebrity Fitness routines all lined out just for you. Wondering how Lebron leaps so high (it’s not the Heat under his feet)? Want to have mad pedal skills like Lance? Looking for Derek Jeter swing at your softball game? No problem all of these athletes and more have their workout plans detailed on the site for free.
Women’s Health has this great customizable Personal Trainer Tool where you can build a workout according to your goals and your needs. It’s handy but I think the Celeb schedules are fun for a bit of a change.
For those of you following along on my Buff on a Budget fitness journey this year, I have dropped a little over 20 lbs on the year the last time I checked (which was 2-3 weeks ago) without a gym membership. WOOHOO. I was able to complete 120 of the 160 miles of the RAIN ride across the state of Indiana a couple of weeks ago (with the shingles in ridiculous heat). I would have LOVED to finish but was trying to take good care of my body so I stopped at mile 92 to rest/ride in the car and then did the remaining 28 with Lady Holly. I’m getting ready to run a 10K in a little less than 2 weeks. I’m still not where I want to be fitness wise but I’m getting there. And I feel really good. Plus I’m even more encouraged that I’ve been able to achieve it all by spending very little money. In fact, the 10K was a Groupon just last week and I ended up using some referral credit to pay for the already 50% reduced entry fee. Life is good.
I’d still love a gym membership someday when we’re debt free but for now, I’ve found a way to make it work and that’s all that counts.
So what are you waiting for? Get out there and workout like a celebrity.
